2012-Scenery of the Doomsday

What does it feel like, knowing you are merely two years away from a higly possible mass extinction?
Lately there has been a rage going on about the end of the world in 2012. Whether it is the mass media coverage or the movie based on what was predicted, we cannot help but wonder if this is really the long awaited end. Will the Mother Earth come to a standstill and wipe out humanity in a bloody massacre or will we all survive and see light at the end of the tunnel? Is 2012 the end of the of the world or is it the birth of a new one?
Scientists, prophets and cults have deemed 2012 as the year of the doomsday. Whether it is global warming gone wild, ecosystems taking revenge, drastic climate or even the work of humanity, the world is constantly in a crumbling and weakening state. Global temperatures seem set to pass the worst-case scenario projected by scientists. The frequency of natural disasters is increasing, and the impact is getting more drastic and extreme with each occurrence. Terrorism attacks are getting bolder and more devastating, which in turn leads to adverse effects on both the environment and humanity. Nuclear proliferation only fans the fears of the world rapidly degenerating inevitably into conflict. With all these factors pressurizing and stressing out the earth, will it be too much for her to take and give up on us in the end?
Will 2012 really come, or will it pass like previous failed predictions made by cults and scientists? The Jehovah’s Witnesses, also known as the Watchtower society, exist as a cult which believes that they are the chosen of God and will continue living forever when the predicted end finally comes. They predicted the world the world would end in 1914, but of course it didn’t as 1915 came. They had a second prediction that it would end in 1974, and thank God the world did not end as Gerd Muller kicked in the winning goal against Holland in the World Cup Finals. The J.W.s make it clear that their aim is not to predict when the world will end, but to assure us that when the end truly comes, they will be there to remind us that they had predicted it all along.
On top of that, here are some other failed predictions made by scientists, prophets and other cults.
-Prophet Hans of Leeds, 1806
-The Millerites, April 23, 1843
-Armageddon, 1891 or earlier
-Halley’s Comet, 1910
-Pat Robertson, 1982
-Heaven’s Gate, 1997
-Y2K, January and May 2000
-God’s Church Ministry, 2008 autumn
With so many failed attempts to correctly predict the end of the world, perhaps the current prediction of 2012 is also one of them.
However, there are other factors which increase the plausibility of a doomsday to a much higher percentage. First of all, there’s the sun storm. As we all know, the sun emit’s multiple rays, one of them being radiation rays, which are harmful to humans if there is excessive exposure. Just recently, sun storms, or solar storms, have been found to release large amounts of excessive radiation, destroying quite a number of satellites. Scientists have predicted that it might reach its peak at around 2012, the amount of radiation released great enough to kill us all.
Secondly, there’s the Yellowstone volcano. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years, and we’re many years overdue for the explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, block the sun and plunge the earth into a frozen winter that could last well up to 15.000 years. The pressure within the Yellowstone is building, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang, sending us all to our deaths with one forceful blast.
Last but definitely not the least factor, the earth’s magnetic poles are causing a drastic change to the earth’s magnetic field itself. The earth’s magnetic field is responsible for shielding us from the harmful UV rays, but the magnetic poles have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years and we’re approximately 30,000 years late for the swap. The pole shift is just round the corner and the magnetic field will be disrupted and eventually disappear, allowing all the UV rays to burn us crisp in a matter of seconds. Scientists estimate that the swap will take place around 2012.
Does this mean that doomsday prophecies are true after all? Whether it is biblical texts prophesizing a descent into natural or man-made chaos or the Mayan calendar proclaiming 2012 as the year that the world will slip into a cataclysmic change, these predictions are feared to pass with an unnerving accuracy. Can the world be saved? We can do nothing but hope that the scenery of the doomsday will forever be behind closed curtains.
D.I.Y. Couple keychain

With the need for saving the environment on the rise, think about all the cool and funky things you can make with recycled items. I made this thing yesterday and it turned out pretty nice.
First, you'll need a plastic bag with prints that you like.

The materials that you need are: Scissors, tape, plastic bags with prints, thread and the handphone keystring or whatever you call it.

Cut the bottom of the plastic so you can easily retain the prints both sides without having to worry about ruining the other side.

Then, cut out the prints that you like.

You should have pictures slightly bigger than the size of your thumb.

Get a piece of hard plastic from any old file or just about any material you can find. Of course, the materials should be easy to use. The plastic below would be just fine.

Stick the thumbnails on the plastic and stick them down with tape.

After having them securely in tape, cut them out. Here, you can choose what shape you want your pictures or icons to be.

Use a needle to prick holes in spots where you are going to thread the pictures.

Using a threaded needle, string the pictures together, or if you are using only one picture, make sure the string goes through the top and bottom before securing it in a knot that leaves a loop on top for the keystring.

Make sure the knots are secure. You can add other things like stickers or feathers if you prefer, but in my opinion, simplicity is best. Here's my version of the completed keychain!

I dunno why I'm teaching DIY here but it didn't turn out THAT bad
